A signature Georgetown program launching in Fall 2019

The CALL is a new signature program for Georgetown, offering one semester’s downtown residence, credit-bearing internships, and unique mentoring and networking opportunities.

At the CALL, you can:

    • Receive placement in a downtown internship relevant to your major or minor
    • Earn credit for your combined internship and seminar
    • Select upper-division courses specially designed to integrate your downtown experience with your major or minor
    • Round out your schedule with 1-credit courses focused on high-impact skills and personal development
    • Access unique networking opportunities and site visits
    • Enjoy a semester-long orientation to DC through the CALL’s signature City Seminar course

One semester at the CALL will help you to maximize your internship, integrate your personal and professional development, and shape your trajectory after graduation.

How do I join the CALL?

Throughout the Spring 2019 semester, the Capitol Applied Learning Lab, in collaboration with Cawley Career Education Center, will offer CALL Prep, a 5-step internship placement process and onboarding to your CALL semester.

CALL Prep will include:

  • Resume Lab
  • Interview Skills Training
  • Personal Storytelling Workshop
  • Internship Interviews
  • Registration advising with your academic dean and CALL staff

Signing up for CALL Prep will secure your place in the CALL cohort and help us to place you in an internship for Fall 2019. Signing up for CALL Prep does not commit you to a semester at the CALL, but it keeps the option open!

*CALL students must be in good academic standing and receive their Dean’s approval.

Where Can I Intern?

All internships will be developed in partnership with the CALL to establish the quality of the internship experience, including expectations, goals and deliverables.

Call internship opportunities are being developed to include diverse options with non-profits, NGOs, legislative offices, cultural institutions, and entrepreneurial startups– especially those focused on social enterprise.

Where Will I Live?

Housing will be assigned in much the same way as when you’re on the Hilltop– in the spring semester, you’ll find out about your CALL housing assignments and your Spring housing on the Hilltop for when you return.

Georgetown will house CALL students in a dorm at 14th and L Streets, NW. The dorm features 24-hour professionally-trained support staff, full kitchens, and social and classroom spaces.

Just over a mile from the CALL, students may find the trip from the downtown dorm walkable, and others will use a University-provided shuttle service. This location will offer students shorter and easier commutes to internship sites, and proximity to events in downtown DC.
