The Dinner Series brings together Georgetown faculty and students in informal, intimate conversations around innovative approaches in higher education. Last year’s dinner guests included Dr. Marcia Chatelain, Professor Cal Newport, Professor Marc M. Howard, and many more faculty across campus. Dinners are capped at around 15 students, to allow for exciting conversations that may not happen in the classroom or office hours.

The Red House hosts speakers from other academic institutions who are spearheading innovative higher education initiatives. Recent speakers include Dr. Cathy Davidson, Founding Director of the Futures Initiative at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York; Dr. Mimi Ito, cultural anthologist and MacArthur Foundation Chair in Digital Media and Learning at the University of California, Irvine; Gardner Campbell, Vice Provost for Learning Innovation and Student Success at Virginia Commonwealth University; and Rick Vaz, Dean of Interdisciplinary and Global Studies at WPI.

The Red House holds design sprints, bringing students from across campus together to consider Georgetown’s future.

When designing new courses, the Red House often convenes focus groups to gather information and opinions from students in the course’s target demographic.
